Komixology and Arts: Psychosocial approach to healing

artist 9Two artists from Bicol who are currently volunteering at Ecoweb Inc. discussed Komixology and cultural arts as approach in psychosocial activities for children and youths in the evacuation centers and in-house evacuation sites.
Noel C. Regachuelo and Daryl Kristopher Aguilar of Tabang Komunidad believe that “creative arts lighten the feelings of those who have experienced trauma from violence. artists 1Arts and music lessen stresses.”
This is a simple approach and can be easily adapted by children and young adults.
The topics are among the themes discussed and infused in a 2-day orientation on survivor-led response (SLR) in disaster management for Maranao youths.
These trained Maranao youths, who are evacuees themselves, will become self-help leaders-volunteers in their respective community and can already introduce survivor-led approach in disaster management.
artist 2The orientation also included workshop on proposal -drafting and facilitation to increase their skills.
John Tamayo of Cordaid also shared insight about the humanitarian institution he represents and will work closely with Ecoweb on humanitarian intervention for least served displaced communities.
